Children’s National, Virginia Tech collaborate to improve pediatric ER care
A pilot program between Virginia Tech’s Sanghani Center for AI and Data Analytics and Children’s National Hospital in Washington D.C. is underway with the goal of reducing the number of patients leaving before receiving care due to overcrowding. By using advanced AI models, they are trying to predict how many high acuity patients will leave on a given day without being seen. If it’s more than two, they will deploy a surge team, to treat additional ER patients.
