Virginia Tech Honor Orchestra and Choir Festival: Talent meets opportunity

So this we came together for the second year of the VT Honour String Orchestra Festival and we had a two-day festival beginning Saturday morning and having Maestro Aurelia as guest conductor and tonight is the culmination of our festival with a combined concert with the VT Philharmonic and the Honour String Orchestra. We invite students from all over the state, we invite their conductors to nominate them so we get the best of their singers and their school choirs and then they all show up here to learn up to five new pieces in two days. My experience has been great. The sectionals that we've gone to have been very effective. They have helped me a lot. Overall, just the conductor and everyone has been super welcoming and very friendly. And I come to an event like this and I see the directors and the people and the work that's being put into something as simple as an honor choir for just a weekend and it makes me feel so comfortable. I mean it's an honor for me too to be here. I get invited by Maestro Elmer because he knew me from Switzerland. The Honest Ring Orchestra it's really I'm honored to work with them coming from entire Virginia to make them a concert and I think it's a great good thing that they have the introduction to the university or school. I know that they know Dr. Elmer, that they know how it's going on it's in a way also a very important recruiting process. I think it's just having the opportunity to work with high school students as well to give them a wonderful collaboration and help them progress in their journey in sharing our mutual passion. So this honor choir gives us a good excuse to get students from all over the state to come visit this campus because this campus is stunning it's beautiful world-class concert hall world-class faculty they They get to meet them, they get to work with them. We have the solo contest that's part of the Honor Choir. We have two of our winners who are going to sing their winning solos from the contest on this stage. I feel really, really good about possibly going to Virginia Tech, about finalizing my decisions to having Virginia Tech as one of my top schools, if not the top. It feels really good to know that a college seeks my talent and my level of expertise, if you will. that feels really encouraging to know that even I can be that talented and be that musically inclined and so much so that I possibly could be accepted into college for that. So I'm very very excited to hopefully be going.
