From Classroom to Crisis: Building a Smarter EMT Training Experience , videoIn partnership with Virginia Tech’s Master of Engineering program (M.Eng), the Alexandria Fire Department worked with graduate students to modernize its EMT training system by creating a more interactive, less instructor-dependent experience. The team developed an Adaptive Scenario Engine that uses real-time technology and a responsive 3D patient avatar whose condition, vitals, appearance, and reactions change dynamically based on trainee actions. Demonstrated through a stroke-focused Basic Life Support (BLS) simulation, the system provided live patient data and realistic patient interactions, allowing trainees to engage with the avatar as they would in a real emergency.
