Hokie spirit drives alumni in the Division of Campus Planning Infrastructure and Facilities
I thought that Virginia Tech was a special place as a student, and I feel very blessed to get to help contribute to its future. knowing that I'm actually shaping the future of that is something that's irreplaceable. having the opportunity to come back to the university and be able to contribute to the planning and development of energy and utilities that will serve to the campus for the next several decades. Growing up, I heard a lot about Virginia Tech. My father is an alum my mother went to Radford. And so we visited here a couple of times, I never really thought about it, though. I knew of it, but I didn't think about it until we came here to visit campus as a potential option. And I just fell in love with the campus immediately. It felt like home. I thought, I can I can see myself here. A lot of things have changed since I've been a student here. But one of the things that hasn't changed is just excellence. Excellence in academics and research. And I'm proud of the university for that. And my daughter is now also attending Virginia Tech. She's a senior in biomedical engineering, so I'm proud to have her continue in that tradition. My oldest son just graduated in May. He is in the graduate program, so he's still a student. He's going to be one of the lifetime students, you know. my middle son is in his junior year here in engineering. So computer and electrical engineering, They just kind of fell right in to the rhythm of Virginia Tech. And got involved in some student organizations and I don't think they'll ever want to leave. That'll be the problem is getting them to move past being students here because it just, you know, it gets into your system. You want to stay. now as an alumni and as an employee to follow the motto of Ut Prosim and serve to give back and contribute and use the things that I learned here at the university when I was a student and out in the world and apply that experience to helping the university move forward. I think everyone that goes to Virginia Tech has the Hokie spirit. You believe maroon and orange. The second that you step foot on this campus, it's something unlike any other major institution that I've felt like you go to a football game, it's almost like a big family.
