Approximately 1,400 people attended Sunday’s greater Washington, D.C., metro area commencement celebration where nearly 500 students graduated from the more than 45 graduate degree and certificate programs in the D.C. area and online.

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the 2025 Graduate commencement ceremony. In total, nearly 500 Virginia Tech students in the greater Washington, D.C., metro area and online have earned doctoral degrees, master's degrees, and certificates this academic year. Our entire university community is truly proud of your accomplishments, and we are honored to have been part of your journey to this notable graduation. You have a responsibility to lead with integrity, to innovate with purpose, and to shape a future worthy of your talent. We need you no matter where your career goes from this moment on. This world is hungry for capable, learning, and curious minds. To the Virginia Tech community, thank you for being our mentors and brilliant inspirations. And thank you to all my fellow graduates and may we carry forward that same spirit of good Ut Prosim and continue to learn and serve wherever we go in life. But what I found here at Virginia Tech was more than just education. I found a family. Let's go into this world with courage, with resilience, and with the same spirit that brought us here today. And no matter where life takes us, let us always remember that once a Hokie always a Hokie.
