ICAT Creativity + Innovation Day is hosted by the Virginia Tech Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology to engage and connect the public to the latest creative and innovative works of students and faculty members. Projects from transdisciplinary courses, and those affiliated with ICAT, and community projects are on display for the public.
ICAT Day is a celebration of creativity and technology at the nexus of science, engineering, arts, and design. ICAT Day is a celebration of projects that are parts of grants, classes, community projects, and they include everyone from undergraduates to professors. ICAT is the place where people can come to work together across disciplines and really learn from each other and do things that you couldn't do just within a single discipline. There's a lot of work in AI. That is kind of a hot topic right now. There's some work in interior design and virtual environment. We're also looking at accessibility. And then there are a few people who are just part of the community who have done cool things that are at the nexus of science, engineering, arts, and design. And they're bringing their work as well. We actually invite the directors of several local museums to come to ICAT Day and chat with the folks who have projects here. And we have many times taken a project straight from ICAT Day and turned it into a museum exhibit at one of our partner museums. I hope that folks who come to ICAT Day today will talk to the students and see how the technologies and the combinations of the disciplines are bringing people together to solve real and cultural problems, and I hope you'll come away with just hope for the future.
