    University Libraries Prototyping Studio resurrects dinosaur cousin skeletons bone by bone , article

    3D scanners and printers are constructing strikingly realistic replicas of the extinct Teleocrater rhadinus using fossils from more than 240 million years ago. Funded through an Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology grant, a team of experts is showing how technology can illuminate the past and bring long-extinct organisms face-to-face with the present.

    Memory Palace Project brings collaborative performance to the Cube , video

    Annie Stevens, percussion soloist, and Rachel Rugh, dance soloist and choreographer, will perform the 70 minute production. The dance, percussion, and cinematic performance explores how memories impact our daily lives which will include performances of Chris Cerrone's "Memory Palace" and Emily O’Halloran's "Shell". The concert will also feature the Virginia Tech percussion ensemble and university dancer students, including students from Radford University. The show runs March 15-16 from 7 pm to 8:30 pm in the Cube at Moss Arts Center.

    CodeKids is currently in the pilot phase. As it’s rolled out into classrooms, public school teachers and students will provide feedback to help Hamouda’s students refine the tools. In the process, they will practice using their skills to pursue Virginia Tech’s land-grant mission and its motto, Ut Prosim.

    The EYE Planetarium brings together ICAT and the Science Museum of Western Virginia , video

    The Science Museum of Western Virginia recently reopened its planetarium with help from researchers in Virginia Tech's Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology. The updated exhibit, known as The EYE, offers a variety of shows and interactive experiences, including breathtaking astronomical journeys, immersive full-dome films, and educational programs tailored to all ages.

    ‘Shakespeare’s Garden’ comes to Northern Virginia , video

    “Shakespeare’s Garden: An Immersive Sound Stroll Through His Sonnets, Soliloquies, and Scenes,” is now open at the Torpedo Factory Art Center’s Target Gallery in Alexandria. The exhibit is presented by Virginia Tech’s Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology (ICAT) and the City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts. The installation enables visitors to explore an immersive sound and visual experience as they follow a meandering path through the space and listen to Shakespearean texts performed by Virginia Tech students. The Target Gallery is typically open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily with occasional 5 p.m. and holiday closures. The exhibition runs through May 26th.
