Vivian Pinn to speak on 'Pioneering Women in the Future of Work'

Join us for an inspiring keynote by Vivian Pinn, a lifelong advocate for women’s health and leadership in STEM, as part of the Center for Future Work Places and Practices’ Women in the Future of Work speaker series.

Pinn will share insights from her groundbreaking career in medicine and research leadership, highlighting her advocacy for women in STEM and the future of women in research and healthcare.

A Lynchburg, Virginia, native, Pinn attended Wellesley College before becoming the only African American and only woman in her class at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She later became the first African American woman to chair an academic pathology department in the U.S. and served as the inaugural director of the Office of Research on Women’s Health at the National Institutes of Health.

The event is co-sponsored by the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, and Pinn will be introduced by Dean Lee Learman. A networking session will follow from 11 a.m. to noon.
