The Big Plant is an annual community event where thousands of trees are planted to restore a riparian buffer ecosystem around Stroubles Creek at the StREAM Lab and on Virginia Tech Foundation land. The effort is a collaboration between Virginia Tech Biological Systems Engineering, Office of Sustainability, Urban Horticulture Center, Student Budget Board, Department of Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation, Ecological Restoration Field Practicum Course, and sponsored by New River Conservancy, Environmental Coalition, VA Dept of Forestry, and VA Dept of Environmental Quality.
