    Veterans Day Remembrance Ceremony 2023 , video

    The Veterans Day remembrance ceremony was held in the War Memorial Chapel. Then, Executive Vice President and Provost, Cyril Clarke and Maj. Gen. Randal Fullhart, commandant of cadets, placed the memorial wreath in front of the cenotaph on War Memorial Court. The Gregory Guard, the corps’ precision rifle drill team, fired a rifle salute, and a bugler played Taps.

    Veterans Day Remembrance Ceremony 2022 , video

    This year's ceremony began in War Memorial Chapel. Capt. Jamie McGrath, director of the Major General W. Thomas Rice Center for Leader Development and a 1990 graduate of the Corps of Cadets, spoke of honoring our armed service members. The program ended with the laying of the ceremonial wreath on War Memorial court by President Tim Sands and Major General Randal Fullhart.

    Cenotaph Ceremony recognizes alum's ultimate sacrifice , video

    The name of 1st Lt. Gary Lee Miller, etched on the marble cenotaph at the center of War Memorial Court, was unveiled during a Nov. 6 ceremony. Miller died from wounds he received after smothering an enemy grenade to save the men he was leading in South Vietnam on Feb. 16, 1969. He posthumously received the Medal of Honor, but his connection to Virginia Tech remained mostly unknown until recently brought to light by alumnus Charlie Wood, of Richmond, Virginia.

    Six alumni honored with addition to War Memorial Pylons , video

    A ceremony to honor six Virginia Tech alumni was held on Nov. 15, 2019.&nbsp; Family and friends gathered at the War Memorial to pay tribute and reveal the names on the Honor and Ut Prosim Pylons. The honored were Tech Sgt. Peter Kraines of the Class of 2010, Sgt. William E. Hawkins of the Class of 1971, Maj. Norman R. Hurst of the Class of 1952, Spc. Fletcher L. Lewis of the class of 1965, Lt. j.g. William L. Sloop of the Class of 1967, and 2nd Lt. Jerry W. Smith of the Class of 1972.<br>

    The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets dedicated the engraving of the name of U.S. Navy Ensign Sarah Mitchell of the Class of 2017 on the Ut Prosim Pylon during a Nov. 9&nbsp;ceremony at the War Memorial.
