Nicholas Street '53 was honored with Virginia Tech’s Ut Prosim medal. The Ut Prosim Medal recognizes and honors individuals whose great contributions and distinguished service to Virginia Tech rise above all others.  It is the highest honor Virginia Tech confers.

Virginia Tech alumnus Nick Street is one who leads by example. "Nick is a person whose life I think epitomizes the scope of our graduates. Coming here as a cadet, serving in the United States Air Force for a number of years, I have a little bit of affinity since we're both pilots, and then going on into the community, into the business, the private sector, and really making a difference in the community." Street, a 1953 graduate, has served Virginia Tech in transformative ways. "His leadership has helped guide the Virginia Tech Foundation Board, our Athletic Fund Board. and our previous and current campaign steering committees. His philanthropy, along with his wife and fellow alumna Fay, has influenced the Beamer Lawson Indoor Practice Facility and the WA and Mae Street Olympic Sports Complex. And anyone who has enjoyed a show in the Street and Davis Performance Hall at the Moss Art Center is a beneficiary of their great generosity." In more than seven decades since his own graduation, Street remains engaged with the Corps. "Our cadets hunger for interaction with our alumni. And why is that? They have some semblance of an idea of who they want to become and why they're here. But they also greatly value the opportunity to talk with alumni, to learn about their journey, to learn about their 'why,' why did they come here? And even more importantly, perhaps, what did they do as a result of their experience here? And I think that is so valuable and that our cadets really appreciate the engagement that Nick, Fay, and the family have given to the Corps over the years." He continues to serve as a role model for our students. "He is the complete package. He's the epitome of what we hope all of our graduates do, to leave here, to serve in many different ways, and to give back to the Alma Mater in a way to help pave the way for those that follow in their footsteps."
