In memoriam: Robin Reynolds, 4Help IT support agent
Robin Reynolds, 4Help IT support agent for the IT Experience and Engagement unit within the Division of Information Technology, passed away on March 11.
Reynolds was born on July 2, 1964, in Radford to the late William Osborne Reynolds and Grace Keister Reynolds. She is survived by her two sisters, Tammy and Jan; her brother-in-law Phil Gilbertson; and by many nieces and nephews who will remember her with love and fondness.
A graduate of Blacksburg High School, Reynolds joined Virginia Tech in July 1996 as an office services aide in the Virginia Tech Computing Center within what is now the Division of IT. She held several positions in the division her throughout nearly 28 years with the university, including computer operations technician and operations specialist, working in the Division of Information Technology, first in Network Infrastructure and Services and later in IT Experience and Engagement.
Reynolds was beloved by her colleagues and known for her kindness, generosity, and dedication to providing excellent service to the students, staff, and faculty she supported through her work. She was frequently recognized for her teamwork, customer service, and high level of performance.
“Being a seasoned veteran at Virginia Tech, Robin was a valued member of the 4Help team, and her experience and institutional knowledge were an invaluable asset. Her unique contributions and the moments of camaraderie shared with colleagues will never be forgotten. We will honor her memory by continuing to support one another and striving for excellence in our work. We extend our condolences to her loved ones during this difficult time. She will be missed,” said Jennifer Reed, 4Help information center supervisor.
“Robin was always ready to help, no matter what the work was. She also never shied away from learning new skills and doing different things. Her constant smile and upbeat attitude kept me from taking myself or the situation too seriously. I will miss her, but am grateful that I had the opportunity to be on her team,” said William Dougherty, executive director for Network Infrastructure and Services.
A wreath in memory of Reynolds was placed at War Memorial Chapel on March 15. Her full obituary is available online.
