Dear colleagues,

I am excited to announce the start of the 2023 Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC) and truly delighted to serve as this year’s honorary CVC chair for Virginia Tech.

The campaign runs from Oct. 3 to Dec. 8. The CVC is an important way for commonwealth employees to safely and easily donate to their favorite charities.

The charities represent a diversity of missions, supporting all residents across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Charities that are close to my heart include the Virginia Tech Rescue Squad, the American Red Cross of Southwest Virginia, the Lupus Foundation of America, and the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, to name a few.

With more than 750 charities to choose from, I know you will find a cause — or two — that is meaningful to you.

I am confident we will come together to reach this year’s goal of $400,000. Virginia Tech employees are exceedingly generous. Since 2010, you have donated nearly $4.4 million to charities in Blacksburg, the New River Valley, and across Virginia.

Now more than ever we need support from individuals in our community to make sure that the most vulnerable members of our community receive the help they need. Contributions of any size go a long way toward helping create a stronger, healthier community.

It’s not about how much you give — your participation at any level will make a difference in the lives of others. There are multiple ways to give, which are detailed on the CVC donation page.

NOTE: As a reminder, Virginia Tech employees are asked to use the university's CVC donation site when making a contribution. The state has a separate donation site, but donations made through that site may not be counted toward Virginia Tech's campaign goal.

If you have any questions about the campaign, please contact your department representative or steering team member.

Please join me in making a difference in the lives of our neighbors in very important and meaningful ways.
