Virginia Tech employees joined together to raise $391,923 for charities through the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign, just shy of the university goal of $400,000.

The 2023 Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC) ended Dec. 15.

Sixteen out of 28 senior management areas either met or exceeded their goal in 2023, including Auxiliary and Business Services; the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences; College of Natural Resources and Environment; College of Science; the Division of Advancement; the Division of Finance; the Division of Human Resources; the Graduate School; Health Sciences and Technology; the Honors College; Office of the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer; Outreach and International Affairs; Pamplin College of Business; University Libraries; Vice President for Audit, Risk, and Compliance; and Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.

“I am grateful for the generosity of Virginia Tech employees,” said Lynsay Belshe, vice president for Auxiliary and Business Services and this year’s honorary campaign chair. “Their contributions to charities through the CVC will improve the lives of others and strengthen our community. I couldn’t be prouder of the Hokie Nation.”

The annual campaign allows state employees to raise and donate money to more than 750 participating charities in their communities and across the commonwealth, ranging from health and human services to animal welfare, from environmental conservation to medical research, and everything in between.

Since 2010, Virginia Tech employees have donated nearly $4.8 million to charities in Blacksburg, the New River Valley, and across Virginia.

The CVC is administered by the Division of Human Resources and led by a steering team made up of university department representatives.
