Preparedness is a key to remaining safe no matter the circumstance.

Wednesday evening, Virginia Tech Police Chief Mac Babb and Assistant Vice President for Emergency Management Mike Mulhare were joined by safety officials to help ensure Hokies are ready, no matter what comes their way, this year.

During a live presentation on campus safety and security, the panel answered a variety of questions related to what students should do in emergency situations and what resources they have available to them. VT Alerts, the Residence Life Resource Officer Program (ROLOs), and the blue lights on campus were among the campus resources discussed, and a number of questions related to actions to take during specific situations, such as shelter-in-place and secure-in-place situations, were addressed.

Many of the questions resulted from a video related to safety, security, and preparedness the two departments together created earlier this month. The video was specifically crafted to allow for questions from the student population that could be addressed in Wednesday's presentation.
