Situational awareness: Multiple thefts from automobile
On April 7, 2025, the Virginia Tech Police Department received several reports of items being stolen from vehicles located in the Oak Lane Community. The circumstances surrounding these larcenies are similar and appear to be related.
Anyone with information concerning these thefts is encouraged to contact Sergeant Brooks by calling (540) 231-3472, or brooks04@vt.edu.
The Virginia Tech Police Department reminds everyone of the following:
- Locking your car is one of the easiest ways to help prevent theft when you are parked.
- Take the time to roll your windows up and check that you have your keys before walking away from your vehicle.
- Do not leave valuable items unattended in your car.
- If you need to leave your belongings in the car, put them in the locked trunk so they are out of sight.
Community members should report all crimes and suspicious activity/persons anywhere on campus immediately to the Virginia Tech Police Department at 540-382-4343 or by dialing 911.
