Celebrating Virginia Tech authors and the launch of University Press of Virginia Tech

Good evening, everybody. We really appreciate you being here and welcome to our 2025 Virginia Tech Authors recognition event. This event is amongst my favorite, and that's saying a lot because I attend a lot of events through the course of a year. This is always so enjoyable for me because it's an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful creative work, but also to address that in the context of the importance of scholarship. Virginia Tech authors are creative. We're seeing everything from, you know, very scientific heavy to humanities heavy to creative to, you know, there's a couple of albums and movies represented here tonight. So it's just a wide breadth of different scholarship and creative works. That range shows how creative Virginia Tech is and how wide of a discipline this university is and how much of a reach that we can have in the world. This year, we are It's founding of the University Press of Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech Publishing and Prepress is our new kind of growing imprint of the University press at Virginia Tech. It's really going to showcase peer reviewed scholarship from within Virginia Tech and beyond, possibly publishing authors outside of VT. I think it's going to be a really strong way of growing our reputation as a university and also building our brand as a university. The amount of topics that we're dealing with at Virginia Tech continues to broaden. I think it's helping to really situate Virginia Tech as a significant institution globally, certainly in certain areas. So congratulations to all of those whom we are celebrating. Yeah. This evening in terms of the scholarship that you have produced. I know there's personal satisfaction in that. I want to tell you that Virginia Tech appreciates that too. Thank you.
