Virginia Tech and Blacksburg ensembles to perform Mozart's Requiem
Virginia Tech’s Philharmonic Orchestra and Choirs will be joined by the Blacksburg Master Chorale to perform Mozart’s Requiem on March 30, 2025 at 4 p.m. at the Moss Arts Center. The Requiem is a historical masterpiece and one of Mozart’s most famous and haunting works; it was left unfinished at the time of his death, with the last movements incomplete.
This piece connects with the human experience in a way that few others do. So this historically is one of those pieces that influences so many parts of our culture that's important for everybody to experience. The emotional force of this piece I experience in life is very powerful and crafted and developed in a way that only Mozart, if his genius was able to put together. This requim has such a wide range of emotion and intensity. Just knowing that that was one of the last things that he wrote before he died himself brings that extra kind of seriousness. It's a great opportunity to connect with what music has meant to people throughout time.
