Members of the Marching Virginians, the HokieBird, and almost 70 of Hoda Kotb’s Tri Delta sorority sisters surprised her on NBC’s “Today” as part of the celebration for her final week on-air.

We're in New York City at the Today Show, which is just so awesome to say. "Let's go!" When we all sat down to talk about Hoda's last week and what we wanted to do for her, we were just trying to brainstorm. What does she love? How do we make it special for her? And the first thing that came to mind was Virginia Tech. My executive producer came in and said, Hey, there's gonna be the Virginia Tech band. So I thought, I'll be really sneaky. I'm gonna put on my Virginia Tech T shirt under my blazer and wear it ha ha ha. Whoa. Under my. Under my blazer, I made sure to wear my Virginia Tech shirt. We know you have a lot of school spirit. There's some people that I think we can kick it out just a notch. When they said some of your sorority sisters are here, I was like, Who's Oh, my God. Who's here? So you thought that you knew what we were doing today right? Yeah. Well, let's welcome out Your Tri Delta sorority sisters. . I saw how many people? 70? 70 people came. I can't, it like blew me wide open. It took me right back. It took me right back to the Tri Delt house. It took me right back to pledging. It took me right back to being a pledge trainer. I took me right back to all the love. It took me right back to everything. All these women were in her life at some point or other across her four years at Virginia Tech. Women came from all over the country, from California, from Indiana, from Florida, from South Carolina. I think the sorority sisters are a perfect example of how much Hoda is loved. We asked for a couple of sisters to come, and we had over 60. One of the most genuine people I think anyone has ever met. Sincere. You automatically feel like she's your friend. It's a gift. And what you see on TV is what you get. She is kind. She is loving. She is inspiring. You guys were so good. That meant so much. It's your winter break. And you're here. Well of course we love to do it. I think it just means a lot in how Hokie Nation is so important to her and the pride that everyone has in our school. And it's really neat. So it was super special to just be here for her and to bring the Hokie energy to New York for her last week. It's awesome. I mean, for the students, it is such a cool, unique opportunity to not only get to come to New York, to not only be part of something like that, but to represent Virginia Tech and represent the other 330 students that are in the band is just really special. I can't believe it. But today was the best day, the best day of all because the plaza was filled with us and it made me feel everything that I feel so deep inside about the university. Y'all, it's the best. This is the best. This is the best. Love you guys. Thank you guys so much.
