Barkley's journey to recovery: a seven-year-old beagle who overcame severe mobility issues due to two torn CCLs (similar to ACLs in humans) and osteoarthritis. After just three sessions of laser therapy, massage, and underwater treadmill exercises at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, plus a targeted weight loss plan, Barkley made an incredible turnaround. Now, he's back to enjoying life with activities he hadn't been able to do for months. Watch Barkley's inspiring story of resilience and the cutting-edge veterinary care that made it possible.

This is Barkley and he is a seven year old beagle. Had a couple of incidences of just being completely non ambulatory, not even being able to get up at all in the back legs. He wouldn't get up, he wouldn't stand up from sitting. When I would try to help him up, he would wince in pain and cry out. I had him evaluated at Virginia Tech. They diagnosed two torn CCLs in his back legs. He also had been diagnosed earlier by his original vet that he has osteoporosis or osteo arthritis. He comes here once a week and he's only been for three sessions. This will be his fourth session today. Getting him in the treadmill is really helpful to help him take that load off of his joints and actually have a more normal range of motion. We got him to help him harness, we fit him for that. We started laser therapy. I taught her how to do massage, especially along the back. So we're thrilled to be here. He's made a lot of improvements since we've been here. I was telling Flori that he's done things in the last few weeks that he hasn't done in months and months. I had considered at one point in time before I got involved with Virginia check of having to put him down because he was in so much pain. 57. So for me lifting a 50 pound dog up and downstairs is not easy. But you can see his quality of life is much better. He's raring to go even after three sessions. He's already improved and I hope he just continues to improve. I think he's had some weight loss too, which has really helped. Progress is really nice to see and it's palpable. You can really see the improvement over a short period of time sometimes. And so that's really nice to see.
