Robert Mills, Jr. ('94) talks about the impact of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences on his life and the commonwealth of Virginia.
When you look at the various communities across the state of Virginia, Virginia Tech and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences offer so many opportunities for outreach. When you look at the extension offices that we have in the various counties, you have the Agriculture Research and Extension Centers, where research is performed and you have so much information going into these localities. It makes a tremendous impact locally on families and farms in those communities because the availability of information helps us be sustainable and helps keep an industry there that will be here for years to come. For me, I'm honored to be a producer here in Virginia and I'm honored to be a part of what Virginia Tech offers, especially through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. You know, it's easy to get up and go to work every day when you love your job. But it's even better when you have a support team around you. And I look at my family's very supportive. My community is very supportive. But more importantly, my university is very supportive. And specifically the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, they having the opportunity to graduate from Virginia Tech with an Ag degree and to be able to come home and do what I do on the farm. But to know that that connection is forever there. And every time I return to Virginia Tech, it's like returning home.
