Beyond Boundaries Scholars: Nathaly Loyola-Rodriguez
Political science major Nathaly Loyola-Rodriguez talks about how the Beyond Boundaries scholarship program makes it possible for first-generation students like her to attend Virginia Tech.
From Peru. I was born here, but both of my parents are province, so add like dual nationality. My major is Political Science with a focus in Legal Studies. I really enjoyed the classes that I'm taking now in poorest, totally different, like the systemd education system and everything is totally different. But when I came here, I realized, oh my gosh, there's like a world that I don't know and I feel like Virginia tag open this new like this new like chapter in my life, you know, beyond but boundaries is doing a great job. Like given the opportunity to so many students that actually can afford to come here to study, have a great education like that's it. Very, very meaningful. When I went to the first meeting, it was very interesting to know like older people like me that was like in the same situation as me, first-generation students. So you can like Phil, identify with all those people that are in the same position as you like. Everything is new. And honestly, if they wouldn't like for that scholarship, probably I wouldn't be study here. I will be taking classes here, anything so that, that was a big opportunity for people like me know, first-generation students that can't afford college. So that's, that's a very like a very good thing. Like that. Virginia Tech has.
