Dee Sanae, Bachelor of Science 2008, Master of Business Administration 2014,  and DC Metro Area Chapter Diversity and Inclusion Director, shares the benefits of being involved in the D.C. metro area chapter.
Hi, I'm Dee Sanae and I'm the Director of Diversity and Inclusion for the DC Hokies alumni chapter in the greater Washington area. The greatest thing about being a Hokie is the camaraderie that we show each other in a professional networking and true Hokie spirit. As part of the DC Hokie family, we are one of the few chapters with a diversity director. And we pride ourselves on our single-minded focus to make everyone feel a part of the community no matter what cultural background they come from. Here in the DC metro area, there's plenty to do from festivals, sightseeing, monuments, and getting involved with our DC alumni Hokie chapter. What's great about being a Hokie and being involved with the chapter is the connection to other fellow Hokies, job prospects, and networking at a large scale. One of our largest Hokie events is our family friendly picnic that we have in the summer and our job fair in the spring. The DMV area is full of Hokie pride, especially around our football games. It was very exciting to hear the announcement that the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus will focus on diversity and the recruitment of underserved and underrepresented students who are exemplary in academics and leadership within technology. The DMV is a growing tech hub with Arlington being the home of Amazon, the Virginia Tech Research Center, and of course, the Innovation Campus. Everything that I do, is in the spirit of our motto, Ut Prosim. I love to pay it forward for all the help and assistance that I've had throughout my life and career while at Tech and beyond. So I hope to see you all here soon. Welcome and let's go Hokie nation.
