On February 15th, 2020, the 5th Annual Uplifting Black Men Conference was hosted by Virginia Tech's Student Success Center and Black Male Excellence Network (BMEN), whose mission is to empower Virginia Tech’s Black men by creating academic and social community through holistic development. The annual conference provides opportunities for networking, professional development, and community engagement.

[00:00:10] >> The annual uplifting black male conference is an opportunity to bring not only our Virginia Tech students but also high school students, other students from around the surrounding areas from community colleges or universities here to Virginia Tech to give them opportunity to be able to network and to empower them and allow them to know that there are people and individuals here on this campus who want them to be successful and succeed in whatever their goals, their dreams, their aspirations they may have in life. [00:00:48] It's really empowering to me as a black male. It sometimes can be hard, but just seeing how so many people are here for us, it's just really empowering for me.
