The College of Architecture and Urban Studies set up a 2,900 square foot geodesic dome in between Cowgill and Bishop-Favrao Halls for use of students and faculty for exhibitions, pin-ups, and small gatherings. As part of the college's COVID-19 response plan, this dome will take the place of several important spaces in Cowgill Hall that are now occupied by socially distanced studio desks.

An 11-year-old black Labrador retriever, Saint, is a retired service dog from Saint Francis Service Dogs of Roanoke, Virginia. When he began experiencing mobility issues and hind limb weakness, his new owner sought out rehab services to improve Saint’s quality of life. Now that Saint regularly visits the veterinary college’s Rehabilitation service (https://www.vetmed.vt.edu/vth/services/rehabilitation/), he has made a significant turnaround. “He has a job again,” said Flori Bliss, a licensed veterinary technician who works with Saint. “He really lights up.”

Guess what was on the menu when Virginia Tech Dining Services’ Culinary Camp opened this summer? Ten young culinary students – aged 9 to 14 – spent a day learning how to make Virginia Tech’s buffalo sauce from scratch. Replete with their tiny chef’s hats and chef coats monogrammed with their names, this new generation of future Tech students were acting out their part in the evolution of buffalo cauliflower tacos from a campus favorite to a campus tradition. Culinary Camp 100 has itself become a rather beloved campus tradition. Since 2013, when the first Culinary Camp 100 class opened its doors to area youngsters, Chef Randall Van Dyke and his team have been shepherding an increasing number of would-be chefs into the world of haute – and sometimes just hot – cuisine.

This new brain machine interfacing lab was thanks to the collaborative forces of the School of Neuroscience’s Dr. Ian Kimbrough and Dr. Sujith Vijayan and Electrical and Computer Engineering master students Naresh Nagabushan and Abhinuv Nitin Pitale. Together with course instructor Dr. Chelsea McCoy, they debuted another exciting new lab to the delight of the students!
