Veterinary college hires Dr. Robin Fontenot as clinical instructor of large animal surgery
Dr. Robin Fontenot of Christiansburg, Va., has joined the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech as a clinical instructor of large animal surgery in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences.
Prior to joining the faculty, Fontenot was a large animal surgery resident at the veterinary college. She was previously an equine medicine and surgery intern at the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Starkville, Miss.
“Dr. Fontenot’s teaching and clinical experience in large animal surgery has already been a valuable asset to the veterinary college,” said Dr. David Hodgson, head of the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences. “She is a gifted instructor in equine medicine and surgery and a welcome addition to our team.”
In her new role with the veterinary college, Fontenot will train and supervise residents, interns, and veterinary students in large animal surgery through lectures and student teaching laboratories. She will also manage after-hours surgical emergencies at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
Fontenot has a bachelor’s degree in animal and dairy science and a doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Mississippi State University. She completed a master’s degree in biomedical and veterinary sciences at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.
