Dennis “Denny” Arnold Rampey Jr., trades mechanic in the Division of Facilities, passed away on Jan. 30.

Rampey was born in South Carolina on June 1, 1961, to Dennis Arnold Rampey Sr. and Betty B. Rampey. 

He dedicated his life to construction. He had a depth of experience, providing services in beach, urban, small town, and rural environments. He could do a complete project from laying footers to foundation, walls, roof, wiring, plumbing, plaster, and even outfit the interior. 

A brilliant carpenter, Rampey had the ability to build beautifully from plans in his head, whether a simple bench or a curved grand staircase. 

Rampey’s service in the Division of Facilities was a culmination of his life’s work. He received great satisfaction from teaching his trades skill sets to employees entering the workforce.

In his younger years, Rampey enjoyed playing football and baseball. His love for antiquing continued into his adulthood along with skiing, golfing, and fishing.

Rampey is survived by his wife, Melissa (Wylie) Rampey; son, Logan Rampey; daughter, Brittney Tallent; four grandchildren; father ,Arnold Rampey Sr.; sister, Alvina Mitchell; and brothers Bill Godwin, Bryan Godwin, and Brent Rampey. 

Rampey is preceded in death by his mother.
