This year’s Employee Appreciation and Hokie Wellness Fair was held May 15 at Lane Stadium for one big day of employee fun.

All faculty, staff, and non-student wage employees who work on the Blacksburg campus or surrounding locations were invited.

Approximately 3,000 employees attended the event, despite the challenging weather.

“This is the third year the university has hosted this fun-filled event for our employees to join together, relax, and celebrate the end of a busy academic year,” said Bryan Garey, vice president for human resources. “This event gives the university the chance to thank our employees for their dedication and hard work before vacation season begins.”

Employees showed up and participated in all the events. During the four hours, employees relaxed, enjoyed a concession-style lunch, listened and danced to music by DJ Flex, gathered friends and participated in the popular 360-degree video booth and photo booth, and played a variety of games.

Photos of employees from past events played in the background on the jumbotron. Garey and President Tim Sands spoke and thanked employees.

New this year, the American Red Cross hosted a Blood Drive and a food drive was held for The Market of Virginia Tech, where employees dropped off more than 275 pounds of non-perishable and personal hygiene items. The winner of the raffle will be announced soon!

The Hokie Wellness Fair, sponsored in part by Warm Hearth Village and Home2 Suites by Hilton, hosted over 60 exhibitors, a mixture of benefits, health and wellness, and Virginia Tech exhibitors.

Employees enjoyed massages; visited with all three Virginia Tech Cook Counseling Center therapy dogs; received vaccinations, acupuncture, and health screenings; and more.

In addition to the Employee Appreciation and Hokie Wellness Fair event in Blacksburg, Virginia Tech has many events taking place across the commonwealth to thank employees for their service and dedication. These events are handled locally, at different times, and in different ways more suitable to the location.
