How VMCVM equipped me for the 'real world'...
The MPH program not only aided my educational growth but also provided me with valuable hands-on experiences that prepared me for the real world. The blend of academic knowledge and practical exposure contributed significantly to my professional development. It equipped me with the skills needed to navigate real-world challenges in the field of public health, fostering a well-rounded path for my career journey.

Best part of being a VMCVM alum...
As a graduate of the MPH program, the most rewarding aspect is the enduring sense of community fostered with advisors/faculty that extends beyond the graduate experience and continues to grow.

Best advice I've gotten....
It's perfectly fine not to have a clear destination in mind; just savor the journey as you go."

How would you capture the essence of your work in a newspaper headline...
Promoting Virginia Tech Recreational Sports Programming for Increased Activity and Mental Well-being

My hidden talent...
Among my hidden talents are my boating skills, where I hold a boating license and crush the waves as a wakeboarder. Additionally, I can sing and it actually sounds... ok!

A person who has inspired me...
My inspiration doesn't come from a single individual but rather from numerous strong, intelligent, kind, and confident women whom I have had the pleasure of learning from throughout both my undergraduate, graduate, and early professional years.

Biggest misconception about my job or industry...
The most common misconception about health marketing is the belief that I don't apply my degree in my day-to-day deliverables. Public health marketing and health promotion may not follow the traditional path typically associated with MPH degrees. However, it plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between both dimensions, emphasizing the significance of this essential role within public health.

Words of encouragement to a current veterinary college student...
Embrace the challenge of expanding your knowledge and exploring beyond conventional boundaries. Know and use the resources at your disposal. While the journey may not be easy, the reward is truly amazing!!

Fondest college memory or tradition...
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was enrolled in the VT MPH program, gaining valuable insights into public health practices during a national public health crisis. One standout moment from my graduate school journey was my role as a Communicator for the Virginia Tech Better Together Mental Health and Well-being Campaign. Through the challenges of the pandemic, I found solace in promoting and advocating for mental health and well-being.

A cause I'm most passionate about... The most formative experience I've had...
Promoting accessibility and care for mental health and well-being has been a focal point for me. Two personal pivotal moments paved the way for my passion and commitment to advocate for mental well-being.

Top of my bucket list...
I have a couple, and choosing between them is tough! I'm passionate about nature and staying active. Two items on my bucket list are kayaking through a glacier in Iceland and wakeboarding in Santorini, Greece.

My favorite quote...
"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." - Mahatma Gandhi

Being a VMCVM alumnus means...
Being a part of making a change in the world of Public Health!

How many pets/animals live at home? Can you tell us about them?
I have two adorable and affectionate feline children, Theo and Eggs! Theo, is a charming 4-year-old Orange Tabby, who enjoys snuggling with his brother Eggs and engaging in conversations with his mom. Eggs, is a 4-year-old Siberian mix, who is incredibly food-motivated, enjoys cat TV, and cherishes snuggles from his mom!
