Ringo, the police patrol pony and special co-chair of Virginia Tech’s Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign, shared with us his favorite charities.

Speaking on Ringo’s behalf, CVC Honorary Chair Lynsay Belshe said, “As a therapy animal, Ringo believes strongly in providing comfort to those in need. As a herd animal, Ringo knows the importance of taking care of your community. With more than 750 charities, every employee can find one or more organizations meaningful to them, just like these great causes that Ringo is passionate about.”

Healing Strides of Virginia (CVC Code 201472) promotes wellness for people with personal challenges who can benefit from equine-assisted activities and therapies in a safe and supportive environment. Ringo is proud of his fellow equine friends who are paired with adults and children in need of emotional support.

Mental Health America of Virginia (CVC Code 200808) works to improve the mental health for all Virginians through advocacy, education, and support.

The New River Land Trust (CVC Code 200070) works to conserve farmland, forests, open spaces, and historic places in the New River region of Southwest Virginia. Ringo is a staunch believer that spending time in nature promotes good physical, mental, emotional, and social health.

NRV Cares (CVC Code 200840) provides resources, child advocacy, education, and services to those in the New River Valley.

Pet Partners (CVC Code 201475) aims to improve human health and well-being through the human-animal bond. The organization prepares volunteers and their pets for visits in hospitals, nursing homes, veterans centers, courtroom, schools, workplaces, and more.

To Our House (CVC Code 200837) provides winter shelter for homeless adults in the New River Valley and connects them with resources that lead to employment, housing, and personal economic sustainability.

Wings of Hope Ranch (CVC Code 200208) pairs rescued horses with children and teens facing challenges. Horses and humans helping each other – what could be better?

Donate to these and other charities through the CVC today.

This year’s campaign has a goal of $400,000 and runs until Dec. 8.

NOTE: As a reminder, Virginia Tech employees are asked to use the university's CVC donation site when making a contribution. The state has a separate donation site, but donations made through that site may not be counted toward Virginia Tech's campaign goal.
