Julie Weaver has been appointed as division director of human resources for the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design.

Weaver joins the college with more than 20 years of human resources (HR) experience. Most recently, she served as HR manager since October 2019 for Virginia Tech’s Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer enterprise. In that role, she supported the day-to-day HR needs of the Divisions of Finance and Human Resources, Office for Equity and Accessibility, and Office for the Vice President for Policy and Governance.

“Being a part of the divisional director model is really exciting,” said Weaver. “I look forward to continuing the work of my predecessor and colleague to advance the delivery of HR services to the college.”

Prior to joining Virginia Tech, Weaver worked for eight years at Cornell University, where she served in several HR roles, including assistant director of human resources for the SC Johnson College of Business.

Weaver received her bachelor’s degree in economics from John Carroll University.

“It's not often that a university creates a new college,” said Weaver.  “And bringing together the passion and energy of these creative schools is an amazing opportunity. It’s a true privilege to be joining them at this exciting time.”

With approval from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia this summer, the reshaped College of Architecture, Arts, and Design brings together the performing and visual arts and design disciplines while retaining its roots in the college’s history of architectural innovation.
