Kimberly S. Brown named interim associate vice provost for academic support services
Kimberly S. Brown of Christiansburg, Va., director of the University Academic Advising Center at Virginia Tech, has been named the university's interim associate vice provost for academic support services.
Brown succeeds Karen Eley Sanders who became acting vice president for equity and inclusion in January.
In her new position, Brown will provide university leadership for institutional support programs and services for students; Areas of responsibility will include the Center for Academic Enrichment and Excellence, Multicultural Academic Opportunities Program, the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program, Student Athlete Academic Support Services, University Studies/University Academic Advising Center, university-wide academic support initiatives, and collaboration with pre-college and pipeline programs.
Brown has been director of the University Academic Advising Center since 1999. Her professional career included academic support positions at Radford University and Weber State University. She is an active member of the National Academic Advising Association. Brown received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond, a master’s degree from Radford University, and a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech.
