Meet Jessica Pfleger, a new cardiovascular researcher at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute
Housed in the brand new biomedical research addition at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute, the main focus of Jessica Pfleger's research is to investigate the molecular mechanisms that underlie cardiovascular disease, which remains the leading cause of death in the nation and the world.
My name is Jessica Laker and I'm an assistant professor at the Freeland Biomedical Research Institute. My lab is on the second floor of the Biomedical Research addition. And my research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms that drive cardiac adaptation under conditions like hypertension or following a heart attack. And it's critical that we understand these molecular mechanisms so that we could potentially interrupt them and develop novel therapies for heart disease.
