>> Today was a hearing before the House Rules Committee which was very bipartisan in spirit not a lot of dissension at all on really trying to figure out ways that we can right the current imbalance between the executive and legislative branches. I think it's really important for people with expertise from Tech in the areas of politics and international affairs to be out in the public sphere.

First of all because I don't know how many people are really aware of just what a robust presence VT has in these areas and that we really have a tremendous number of experts in any number of areas in public affairs, international affairs, policy and political science. In the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, we have over 1200 political science majors and the Innovation Campus, national security is going to be one of the three areas of concentration and that will be yet another way that we will have this public presence in the D.C. area that will engage Congress and the general public.
