Master data analytics skills in six weeks with online certificate course

The Virginia Tech Newport News Center is offering an online Introduction to Data Analytics certificate course designed to help you thrive in a data-driven world. Taught by faculty from the Pamplin College of Business, the six-week course begins Tuesday, July 29, and meets online each Tuesday from 2–4 p.m.

Registration is open through July 28, and space is limited.

Faculty members Barbara Fraticelli, Reza Barkhi, and Jacob Shortt will guide participants through a foundational exploration of data analytics concepts and practical applications tailored to your organization or industry.

Course modules are structured around three key objectives:

  • Establish a foundation: Learn the history, core terms, and key definitions of data analytics. Understand what data analytics is and why it matters.
  • Develop skills: Gain in-demand industry skills through hands-on exercises that prepare you to apply your knowledge in real-world settings.
  • Apply knowledge: Work through case studies and industry-specific examples to improve marketing, enhance efficiency, increase revenue, and gain competitive advantages.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate of completion from Virginia Tech, including continuing education units (CEUs) based on total contact hours.
