Water outage impacting several Blacksburg campus residential and dining buildings
Editors Note: Repairs are complete. All systems restored.
Due to a water main break that occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25 affecting water and chilled water systems, several buildings in the residential region of the Blacksburg campus are affected as follows:
Dietrick Hall is experiencing a domestic and fire water outage and is closed during this time.
Slusher Hall is experiencing a hot water outage during this time.
Buildings that may experience warmer temperatures:
- Ambler-Johnston Hall
- Cochrane Hall
- Harper Hall
- Student Services Building
- Smith Career Center
As the repairs are underway, residents of Slusher Hall may use McComas Hall for their showering needs.

Also during the repairs, Dietrick Hall’s dining center is currently closed, but the Xpress Lane Market is currently open for convenience items only. Other dining locations and operations are open and available to students, faculty, and staff. Hours and menus are available online.
