New Business Building construction to begin

In preparation for the New Business Building capital construction project, the following parking and pedestrian route modifications will be in place beginning Oct. 17 to accommodate construction fencing and trailers and ensure pedestrian and driver safety:
Please note that the New Business Building will be constructed on top of the existing Undergraduate Science Laboratory Building parking lot, located on the corner of Prices Fork Road and West Campus Drive.
The Undergraduate Science Laboratory parking lot (along West Campus Drive and Prices Fork Road) will be closed permanently for construction activity and contractor laydown area. Drivers may utilize nearby alternative parking areas such as the Perry Street Parking Garage, Data and Decision Sciences Building parking lot, and North End Center Garage.
Alternative ADA parking spaces will be available at the Data and Decision Sciences Building parking lot, Derring Hall parking lot, Perry Street Parking Garage, and North End Center Garage.
The north facing side of Science lane will be closed to pedestrian access. Pedestrian egress along the south facing side of Science Lane, West Campus Drive and the Perry Garage Access Road will be maintained.
Pedestrian access will be maintained along West Campus Drive.
Construction site entrance/exit will be in place along Science Lane and the Perry Garage Access Road.
Fencing and trailers will be in place throughout the construction process, which is targeted for completion in fall 2027.
Drivers and pedestrians may also utilize the Interactive Campus Map to assist with navigation.
As construction efforts continue, additional impacts to the university community will be provided via Virginia Tech News.
New Business Building will connect to the western end of the Data and Decision Sciences Building’s multi-story commons area and will provide spaces for experiential learning, industry collaboration, and interdisciplinary research. The building is the second academic building in the Global Business and Analytics Complex and will provide opportunities to improve the North Academic District’s physical accessibility.
