Tips for navigating construction adjacent to Burruss Hall

From: Division of Facilities

As the construction of new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant pathways around the Burruss Hall region continues, accessible routes around Pamplin and Burruss Halls are temporarily less direct in nature.

Real-time information regarding Virginia Tech’s Blacksburg campus -- including assistance for identifying accessible routes and current pathway closures and construction sites -- can be accessed via the Interactive Campus Map.

Due to the evolving nature of construction projects impacting accessible routes in the North Academic District, accessible and pedestrian pathways as well as emergency and delivery vehicle access are subject to change. Changes in routes will be communicated via Virginia Tech News, the interactive campus and campus closures maps, Division of Facilities X account and Instagram account, and directional signage.

Beginning Monday, May 19, accessible routes will be available around the construction project to the west of Burruss Hall (Pamplin Hall side) in the following areas:

  • From the pair of elevator towers adjacent to the Cowgill Steps along Johnston Student Center upper level, along Burruss Hall, and through the Burruss Hall tunnel
  • From the pair of elevator towers adjacent to the Cowgill Steps along Johnston Student Center lower level, to Pamplin Hall or to the Pamplin Hall parking lot

Additional pedestrian routes are also available from Pamplin Hall, along the construction fence line via gravel path, to the Drillfield.

Questions may be directed to vtfacilities@vt.edu.

During construction, available accessible routes are marked in blue.
