Faculty members from across the university are invited to join an immersive workshop in Cape Town, South Africa, focused on planning, recruiting for, and leading community-based learning experiences for students abroad.

The 11-day program emphasizes engagement with local communities and provides strategies for developing student learning experiences with community-based partners. Participants will experience community-based learning firsthand while examining best practices with facilitators from Virginia Tech and local partners.

Workshop activities include collaborating with local communities on the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals, food security and educational access from a South African perspective, and discussing academic collaboration opportunities with colleagues at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
