Accessibility Awareness Week aims to increase awareness and provide resources
From: Office for Civil Rights Compliance and Prevention Education, Technology-enhanced Learning and Online Strategies
The second annual Virginia Tech Accessibility Awareness Week is scheduled for March 31-April 5. Modeled after Global Accessibility Awareness Day, the goal of this week is to provide learning opportunities and resources that engage the campus community to think, discuss, learn, and take action regarding digital and physical accessibility.
The weeklong series of presentations, workshops (including asynchronous content), and discussions are designed to increase awareness and provide employees and students with resources to create a more accessible Virginia Tech. This year’s theme is “Accessibility by Design: How the intentional design of systems, spaces, and experiences helps improve accessibility across all areas of campus life.”
There is no charge to participate. However, some sessions require registration as noted in the schedule of events. Events are evolving as details are finalized.
Accessibility Awareness Week is sponsored by the Campus Accessibility Working Group, Office for Civil Rights Compliance and Prevention Education, Division of Information Technology, and Technology-enhanced Learning and Online Strategies.
If you are an individual with a disability and need an accommodation, contact the individual event coordinators as noted in the schedule.
