Solo Travel Safety Lunch and Learn with Global Education and the Virginia Tech Police
From: Global Education Office
The Global Education Office and the Virginia Tech Police Department are teaming up to empower Hokies to explore the world with confidence. Presenters Allie Oberoi, the associate director for global safety and risk management, and Officer Jason Miller will share essential travel safety tips.
“Everyone can benefit from travel safety information and planning,” Oberoi said. “Traveling alone, though, can be particularly intimidating. We want to help empower potential travelers with the information and tools they need to take advantage of travel opportunities confidently and safely.”
Traveling alone can offer flexibility and freedom. However, it also requires situational awareness to safely navigate new environments alone. In this interactive workshop, participants will gain practical insights and helpful tips to improve their situational awareness and increase their confidence.
The Solo Travel Safety Lunch and Learn will be offered virtually and in person in the Newman Library Goodall Room (Multipurpose Room) on Tuesday, March 25, from 12:30–1:45 p.m. Lunch will be provided for in-person attendees. Registration is encouraged.
If you are an individual with a disability and desire an accommodation, please contact Allie Oberoi.
