Participants needed for next-level Microsoft 365 Copilot AI tool trial

From: Division of Information Technology

As we evaluate possible generative AI (artificial intelligence) options for the university, we are pleased to embark on a limited trial of Microsoft 365 (M365) Copilot. While the baseline Copilot tool is already offered at Virginia Tech, M365 Copilot is a separate generative AI tool that integrates with the M365 suite and is designed to boost productivity when using products including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and more.

Additional licensing is required for M365 Copilot. Consequently, we are using this trial run to determine whether it is beneficial to offer this license for purchase across the Virginia Tech community.

The trial program can accommodate 100 individuals and is limited to full-time employees. The trial will last approximately three months. To apply, please fill out this form by Nov. 20, 2024. In early December, we will select participants to create a diverse pool of users that reflects various needs and use cases from around the university. All applicants will receive a follow-up communication from the program indicating whether they were selected.

Those selected for the program will:

  • Receive access to a temporary M365 Copilot license during the trial period
  • Engage with M365 Copilot daily to help the university assess its benefits
  • Be able to use this license for work purposes
  • Participate in weekly user training sessions
  • Provide feedback to the program regarding this experience

It is important that trial run participants can commit to using Microsoft 365 Copilot regularly during the assessment period and are already familiar with using the M365 suite. Please only apply if you are sure you have the time and ability to commit to the program.

More information about M365 Copilot is available at Introduction to Microsoft 365 Copilot - Training | Microsoft Learn, or you can ask Copilot directly, “Tell me more about Microsoft 365 Copilot.” You may need to log in to your Virginia Tech account.
