Torgersen Hall exterior improvements to begin

The exterior of Torgersen Hall

From: Division of Facilities

On Wednesday, Nov. 20, work to restore the exterior of Torgersen Hall to its original beauty will commence. The project, which is anticipated to take place over the next two years, will provide maintenance to the building’s Hokie Stone, windows, and more.

To accommodate these repairs, three parking spaces located on Alumni Mall on the southeast side of Torgersen Hall will be temporarily closed beginning Wednesday, Nov. 20.

During the duration of the project, construction equipment and fencing will be present around the southeast and southwest sides of Torgersen Hall. Additionally, pedestrians and building occupants may notice the presence of contractors on and around Torgersen Hall and elevated levels of noise associated with construction.

Contractors will begin their work on the roof of Torgersen Hall, and move to the sides of the building as the project progresses. To accomplish this, scaffolding and overheard protection will be temporarily placed on the building.

Fencing and construction activities will be focused on the southeast and southwest sides of Torgersen Hall adjacent to Alumni Mall and Stanger Street. Fencing will not surround Torgersen Bridge. Any construction related impacts to Torgersen Bridge and additional project updates will be shared via VT News.

Pedestrians and drivers may utilize the Interactive Campus Map to assist with navigation.
