Building Transition Free Market at the Northern Virginia Center

As units prepare to transition out of the Northern Virginia Center in Falls Church, please consider diverting your reusable items from the waste stream.
The NVC Facilities team and the Graduate School are offering a novel way to repurpose unwanted or no longer needed items as you clear out your office or program area. Room 336 in the Northern Virginia Center will be reserved as a Free Market from Oct. 1 through Nov. 22. Place your personal items (owned by you, not the university) on the tables and shelves for others to claim. Think Flea Market – but with zero prices – thus, the Free Market!
Virginia Tech employees and students in the D.C. area are welcome to visit the Free Market during building hours to browse the ever-changing selection. You never know what treasures will appear.

Room 336
What you may leave in the room:
- Small appliances/lamps
- Textbooks
- Office décor/accessories
- Tchotchkes
- Kitchen supplies
- Anything you own that you no longer want that may have some residual value to others
What you may not leave in the room:
- University assets (e.g., furniture, chairs)
- Papers/files
- Trash/Recycling
- Items that are so old/worn that they won’t be useful to anyone
- Overly personal items (shoes, wallets/purses, earbuds, etc)
Note that books are generally not recyclable, so this is a good way for them to find a new home! If you need any information as you clean out your space regarding trash or recycling, please email facilities@vt.edu.
