Northern Virginia Technology Council partnership provides access to D.C. area tech industry

From: Office of Innovation and Partnerships

Virginia Tech is an academic partner of the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), supporting events and programs year-round. Recognizing the tremendous impact of the information technology sector, both currently and in the future, the partnership reflects NVTC and Virginia Tech's joint commitment to ensuring the greater Washington, D.C., metro area has a robust technology ecosystem and a strong pipeline of highly skilled technology workers. NVTC is one of the nation’s largest technology councils.

Employees and students can take advantage of this tech sector partnership in several ways.

Students, using their .edu email address, may register for most events at low, student-discounted prices. NVTC also has $25 student memberships. Student members gain access to the summer Interns Networking Reception in the D.C. area and the Communities of Interest Thrive platform.

Employees are encouraged to register (using their .edu email address) for a login at https://nvtc.org/ by inputting “Virginia Tech” as their company name. There is no additional fee for this employee membership.

Employees registered with NVTC will receive:

  • 15% or more discount on in-person event tickets
  • Complimentary in-person event participation with NVTC Communities of Interest
  • Access to NVTC Communities of Interest. Each community has its own dedicated central hub that fosters member collaboration and enables NVTC members to share strategic advice, best practices, solve challenges, and develop new approaches. NVTC Communities are:
    • Cybersecurity and Privacy
    • Data Center and Cloud
    • Digital Transformation
    • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
    • Workforce Development
    • Global Technology Leadership
    • Student Community
    • Space Community
    • GovCon Community
    • Marketing Community

NVTC hosts several signature events throughout the year. Additionally, they host several industry-specific event series and the Communities of Interest bring together members with common business interests. Join the Communities of Interest for a Mixer on Sept. 10.

The Academic Partnership also presents the following opportunities for Virginia Tech as an institution:
