Go green: Sign-up for the Game Day Green Team

The Game Day Green Team is seeking volunteers to aid in promoting sustainable practices during Virginia Tech home football games. 

The Game Day Green Team, in support of Virginia Tech’s Climate Action Commitment, will encourage tailgaters to recycle their bottles and cans. These efforts will help the university to reach its goal of becoming a zero-waste campus by 2030. 

Volunteers will be placed in small groups and assigned to a parking lot to educate fans on what can be recycled and where they should place their recyclable materials. 

Sign-ups are open to all students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Volunteers can expect to finish their shift roughly two hours before kickoff. This gives volunteers time to enjoy the pregame festivities and attend the game if they have tickets. 

Interested individuals can select which home games they would like to participate in.
