The past, present, and future of Virginia Tech's herbarium
The Massey Herbarium at Virginia Tech is the largest herbarium in
Virginia. It houses thousands of dried and pressed plant specimens used
for research and education. The oldest is over 200 years old. Massey Herbarium Curator Jordan Metzgar explains how the museum first began and how the collection is used by
students, faculty, researchers, and the public for a variety of
purposes, including modeling future species distribution in response to climate change.
