Video: Winning idea emerges in student entrepreneurship challenge
A tool designed to clean hard to reach areas in semi-automatic rifles and pistols, a cloud-based platform to deliver high quality virtual reality content via the Internet, and a high-tech, sanitary product dispenser. These are just three of the ideas Virginia Tech student teams recently presented while vying for their share of $30,000 in prize money in the VT KnowledgeWorks Global Entrepreneurship Challenge Semifinals.
Ben Newman of Tysons, Virginia, and Jeremy Boone of Norfolk, Virginia, both seniors majoring in management in the Pamplin College of Business, took home the $15,000 grand prize for their winning idea, which aims to make cleaning semi-automatic rifles and pistols less of a chore.
Other students share their inventions as well: Gabriella Jacobsen of Tysons, Virginia, a junior majoring in industrial design in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies, and Sky Van Iderstine of Annapolis, Maryland, a senior in the College of Engineering majoring in mechanical engineering.
