Virginia Tech featured in 2013 edition of 'Fiske Guide to Colleges'
Virginia Tech has again been recognized for its outstanding undergraduate experience; this time in the 2013 edition of the best selling college guide book, "Fiske Guide to Colleges."
The guide is a subjective but systematic collection of profiles of 300 colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, and Great Britain. Schools featured in the guide were selected with several broad principles in mind, beginning with academic quality. Other subjects considered were student body, social life, financial aid, campus setting, housing, food, and extracurricular activities.
"Fiske Guide to Colleges," founded in 1982 by former New York Times education editor Edward B. Fiske, is considered one of the nation's most comprehensive guides for students and their families to more than 300 colleges and universities. It is currently the most popular college guidebook on Amazon.com.
Dedicated to its motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve), Virginia Tech takes a hands-on, engaging approach to education, preparing scholars to be leaders in their fields and communities. As the commonwealth’s most comprehensive university and its leading research institution, Virginia Tech offers 240 undergraduate and graduate degree programs to more than 31,000 students and manages a research portfolio of $513 million. The university fulfills its land-grant mission of transforming knowledge to practice through technological leadership and by fueling economic growth and job creation locally, regionally, and across Virginia.
