Sattar A. Mansi named Wells Fargo Professor in Financial Risk Management
Sattar A. Mansi, professor of finance in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, has been named the Wells Fargo Professor in Financial Risk Management by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.
The Wells Fargo Professorship in Financial Risk Management recognizes an outstanding professor who has teaching and research expertise in financial risk management. It was created In 1999 through a gift from First Union Bank of Virginia, which eventually became part of Wells Fargo..
A member of the Virginia Tech community since 2002, Mansi has maintained a high level scholarly production, in terms of its breadth, significance, and quantity. He has published 24 peer-reviewed articles, 11 of which are listed in the Financial Times Top 40 Publications in Business and Management. His papers had 500 citations, according to the Thomson Reuters Web of Science Citation Index database; 637 citations, according to the Social Science Research Network; and more than 2,500 citations, according to Google Scholar.
He is also ranked 428 out of more than 50,000 authors, according to the Social Science Research Network.
Mansi has taught at the Northern Virginia Center, National Capital Region, in Falls Church, Va., since 2002, and in Blacksburg in 2011 and 2012.
Mansi received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. from George Washington University.
